What you need:
- 1 big tomato (or 2 medium)
- I small lemon sized ball of tamarind
- 1 tsp whole peppercorns
- 1 tsp jeera
- 2 - 3 cloves garlic
- A pinch of haldi powder
- 1/2 tsp sambar powder
- A handful of curry leaves
- 1 tsp Oil/ ghee
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- 1 dried red chilli broken in half
- Chopped dhania leaves
- Salt to taste.
Method:
- Chop tomato.
- Soak tamarind in warm water and take out pulp.
- Coarsely grind garlic pods, pepper and jeera with a little water.
- Boil together tamarind, chopped tomato, haldi, ground paste, sambar powder, 1/2 of the curry leaves and salt. Add water.
- Cook till raw smell goes away.
- Temper with mustard seeds, curry leaves and red chilli.
- Garnish with chopped dhania leaves.
