The Rotary Club of Madras and Nippon Paint (India) Pvt. Ltd. today announced that the fourth edition of the Chennai Corporate Golf Challenge will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2010 at the Madras Gymkhana Club. Also, this year the proceeds from the event would be donated to the ‘Development of the girl child’ campaign with an effort to create and build support to the cause.

The last edition held in March 2010 saw 108 golfers taking part and 46 corporates being represented. This annual event was conceived to be both a competitive test of golfing skill as well as a fund raiser for a host of activities supported by the Rotary Club of Madras.

The star attraction at the Nippon Paint Chennai Corporate Golf Challenge 2011 would be Jyoti Randhawa, India`s ace golfer who would be playing a few rounds with some of the golfers. He would also be conducting a free golf clinic for young golfers in the city at noon. Mr. Randhawa has donated a number of his golf memorabilia to the club, and an auction of the same would be held for which the proceeds would go to charity.

With the resounding success and the tremendous response it saw last year, the event moves into the fourth year with the cumulative rankings of the top teams in each handicap would be announced for the coveted title of the Permanent Trophy. Also winners will compete year on year for the Jhaver Trophy.

Speaking on the occasion, Rtn. Gunashekar, President, Rotary Club of Madras said, “We are back with the Chennai Corporate Golf Challenge 2011 with an increase in the number of corporates & individuals who have expressed keen interest in participation and willingness to support the cause associated with the event. This year we would contribute to the ‘welfare & education of the girl child’ as it is important to give our girl children, from disadvantaged backgrounds, a chance for developing their future.
