In a simple way, the main purpose of celebrating Ayudha Pooja can be explained as to understand and realize the use and benefit of various tools & tackles.

All animate & inanimate objects are filled with some materials. In order to express our gratitude to the tools which facilitate our progress In life and pay our respect to them is the main purpose of celebrating and performing Ayudha Pooja.

On the day of Ayudha Pooja, as a tradition, we clean tools of all sizes and shapes from a small teaspoon or ladle to big factory machinery and paint them if required, apply tilak on them and perform pooja & prayer to them and give them rest for that day, take them out the next day for using year long.

Is it not a great and worthy idea that all of us take a pledge while celebrating Ayudha Pooja that we will use all these tools only for constructive purposes and will never use them for any harmful or destructive purposes?!

The festival day of  Vijaya dasami, the last day of the celebration of the hugely popular occasion of  Navarathri (9 holy nights), is an ideal and auspicious day for those who start their new business or the children who start learning by going to school.
