3 districts declare holiday

Owing to Kumbakonam Mahamam festival, 22nd February is declared to be a holiday in three districts of Tamil Nadu. The state government has announced holiday for Tanjore, Thiruvarur and Nagapattinam. The government sources also added that the holiday is announced as a special case, complying with the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881.
All banks, private-run industries and educational institutions will remain shut during these days.
The festival takes place once in 12 years. This is expected to take place in a grandeur, colorful manner this year. Heavy crowd is likely to be seen at the Mahamahan tank, Kumbakonam where they take a holy dip.
