For the current fiscal India`s economic growth is seen at 7.6 percent the highest since the current methodology was adopted to compute national income and compared with 7.2 percent a year before.

Data released by the Central Statistics Office (CSO) on Monday showed the economy grew 7.3 percent in the October-December quarter, slower than the previous quarter`s upwardly revised 7.7 percent expansion.

Growth for the July-September quarter was revised to 7.7 percent from the previously reported 7.4 percent. April-June quarter was revised upwards to 7.6 percent from 7 percent earlier. While commodity price deflation is hitting metal companies and upstream oil producers, firms making value-added items have improved margins as their input costs have fallen sharper than output costs.

However, independent analysts say that the CSO`s GVA growth numbers still lacked full credence.
