Now rate your favorite railway station

Posted on: 10/Feb/2016 4:28:54 PM
With an aim of bringing on competition, Suresh Prabhu the railway minister is likely to roll out a plan that will let passengers provide ratings to railway stations. Passengers are free to rate railway stations on the scale of cleanliness, amenities, etc.

The basic idea of this move is to set passengers free to rate stations as per their respective satisfaction levels. It is based on these ratings that the railway stations will be ranked. Aspects such as level of comfort at waiting and retiring rooms and lounges, cleanliness, etc are to be considered while rating, said a senior Railway Board member.

The rail budget that is to be proposed on 25th February by Mr Prabhu is likely to have a mention about this initiative. This will have an avid emphasis on passenger amenities.

Mr Prabhu has been receiving feedbacks on his twitter page. However this is quite informal. There are several customer friendly technologies available these days. An app could have been developed where users can rate stations on a mechanism created for passengers.

All the divisional railway managers and zonal general managers are insisted on making their Twitter handles public and they are to respond to queries raised by passengers on real-time basis. These ratings given to the railway stations may also be of help in assessing performance of zonal and divisional heads.
