Metro stretch between Little Mount and Chennai Airport to have trial runs next month

The Chennai Metro Rail service may start trial runs for the stretch between Little Mount and Chennai Airport as early as next month. This will enable the stretch to be open for the public six months down the line.
Say Chennai Metro rail Limited (CMRL) officials, Though the trial run between Little Mount and Nanganallur Road had started in November, it was stopped owing to some technical problems. But, (we) plan to now conduct the trial run on this stretch and extend it up to Chennai airport too. Also, we will carry out the trial run beyond Alandur to the next station, St. Thomas Mount. We will soon finish the technical work required before carrying out the trial run and start early next month. The work on stations along Little Mount to Chennai airport is in full swing and expected to be completed soon, he added.
The Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRL) will inspect the stretch after the trial run if completed. The service between Little Mount and Chennai Airport can be functional only after he clears it. This procedure will be followed for the stretch`s extension up to St. Thomas Mount.
