Heavy showers inundated districts and cities in Tamil Nadu, causing devastating effects to Chennai, Kanchipuram, and Tiruvallur districts. Hence, the summer season this year was expected to be subtle. However, the adversity of hot sun is too high right now, in February. This has largely bothered people about how will it be in April and May months this year.
The temperature was highest in Salem measuring 97 degree Fahrenheit. This is the highest record following the year 2012. It was 92.12 degree Fahrenheit on Sunday. During 2012, it was 92.48 degree Fahrenheit, in 2013. it was 90.5 Fahrenheit in 2014, it was 90.5 Fahrenheit in 2015, it was 91.58 degree Fahrenheit.
The effect of hot sun is eventually increasing day by day and hence people have started preferring tender coconut water, buttermilk, watermelon, etc. There are a number of these kiosks dotting the city already. So far, in February, the average temperature is recorded to be 90 degree Fahrenheit.
Similarly, in Bhubaneswar, Odessa, the maximum recorded temperature is 104 degree Fahrenheit. In states including Kerala, Karnataka, etc, there is hike in maximum recorded temperature.
Speaking about this, the officials at Chennai meteorology department say summer starts on 1st of March every year. But there is severe heat experience right in February this year. Due to lesser moisture in air, there is a hike in temperature by 1.5 degree Fahrenheit. There is hike in temperature this year, as compared to previous years. The maximum temperature was recorded in Salem with 97 degree Fahrenheit.
