Chennai Collector warns Chennaites of heat wave

Chennai Collector K Govindaraj has advised public to take precautionary measures and stay indoors because the mercury is set to rise over the next few days.
 
Chennai Collector K Govindaraj referred to an IMD report which said the temperature was set to rise to around 41 degree Celsius over the next few days from 37 degrees Celsius and urged public not to venture out between 12 noon and 3 pm.
 
The Collector has requested the public not to go out between 12 noon and 3 pm unless it is necessary. People are requested to drink large quantities of water. To avoid dehydration, they should drink fruit juices or buttermilk. Avoid coffee and tea. Wear light cotton clothes. Don`t leave children and pet animals in the parking lot. If you have to go out, take drinking water. Cover your head, neck, hand and legs with wet clothes. Wear hat or take umbrella. If you feel tired, drink water.  Consult a doctor if you are not well. Avoid tea and coffee. Instead take butter milk, porridge or fruit juices. Keep pet animals in a shady place and give them lots of water.
