The Raintree, St. Mary`s Road is all set to host the Malaysian Food Festival at Colony restaurant from 22nd April to 8th May 2016 for buffet dinner from 7.00 pm to 11 pm. The 17 day long festival will feature expat Chef Asri from Malaysia whipping up Malay delicacies for one and all to enjoy.
Malaysian cuisine is known for the usage of spices, shrimp paste, lemongrass, kaffir lime leaves, cardamom, star anise, fenugreek, galangal and coconut milk that adds a creamy touch to make its dishes all the more delicious to relish. Chef Asri - Head Chef from Malaysia will be spearheading the festival to bring in the best of Malaysian delicacies. The menu has been specially designed covering Malay delicacies such as the famous Curry Laksa -a coconut curry soup with noodles and Asam Laksa -a sour fish soup with noodles. Nasi Lemak also called as fatty rice, a dish of fragrant steamed rice with coconut milk which is served with an assortment of dried anchovies, peanuts, hardboiled eggs, dried shrimp, cucumber and sambal is usually had for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Curries or a spicy meat stew called Redang is served as an accompaniment for the dish .The cuisine also caters to seafood lovers by offering delicacies such as fish head curry- a gravy cooked with vegetables and tamarind sauce and coconut milk, Asam pedas - Fish and okra are simmered in a tamarind based broth. Desserts such as Kueh Bahulu- mini sponge cakes that are dipped in black coffee and Lapis Legit- sweet coconut rice balls will be available for all to savour.
