Chennai metrological department sources state that Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry will receive rainfall due to heat convection. Most parts of Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry suffered above 100 degree heat yesterday.
There have been rain showers across Tamil Nadu since the onset of Agni Nakshathiram on 4th May. Due to low pressure zone on Bay of Bengal, most places of the state received severe rain showers. This gradually got subsided. Now, there is severe heat across the state yet again.
Agni Nakshathiram will continue till 29th May and hence the state is likely to experience severe heat till then.
The Chennai metrological department officials state that due to heat convection, in the next 24 hours, Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry will receive rain showers. Temperature in and around Chennai will have a maximum of 39 degree Celsius and the minimum temperature will be 30 degree Celsius.
In more than 10 localities of Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry, temperature rose up to 100 degree. Nungambakkam in Chennai saw 103.1 degree Fahrenheit, Chennai airport had 103.64, Cuddalore 101.3, Nagapattinam 100.4, Palayamkottai 100.58, Pondicherry 102.56, Selam 101.3, Trichy 103.28, and Vellore 103.82.
