The super-hot temperature in Chennai keeps continuing for consecutive days. The temperature yesterday was 40 degree and it is the same today as well. The maximum temperature was 40.5 degree Celsius and the temperature on Wednesday was 40.3 degree Celsius at 2.30 pm.
Such high temperature in the city was recorded before rains this month. The maximum temperature last year was 40.8 degree Celsius on 222nd April.
There are two factors that have resulted in such high temperature, say duty officers at the Regional Meteorological Centre. There are strong hot and dry wind blows. At a few times, sea breeze gets completely weakened. After 4pm when sea breeze sets in, the temperature had already got peak levels. Clear skies are also experienced. There is no blockage of radiation, he added.
