With the onset of south-west monsoon rains from yesterday (Wednesday, 8th June), it has been raining with strong winds daily in the evenings. It has rained quite heavily for an hour in some areas.
As the depression formed in the South Arabian Sea intensified, it has been raining daily. In the meanwhile, a low depression zone has formed in the West-central Bay of Bengal in the region of Andhra and South Odisha.
Another depression has formed in the Arabian Sea near the state of Karnataka.
The Storm warning Centre in Visakhapatnam has informed that the depression formed in the Bay of Bengal has spread from the Maharashtra (Vidharba), coastal Telangana and Andhra to the Southern region of Tamil Nadu.
As this depression is moving towards the north, the meteorological centre has informed that there are prospects of intermittent rain in the coastal districts of Tamil Nadu.
The meteorological centre has informed that it may rain today (Thursday, 9th June) evening.
