Students who complete +2 join 5-year Law Courses and 4-year medical courses. However, they cannot directly join the B.Ed course. The can join B.Ed only after completing graduation in any field. Otherwise, they can join 2-year middle-level teachers’ training.
With the initiatives taken by the Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, students who completed +2 can now join the 4-year B.Ed course. By merging the 3-year graduate course and 2-year (current) B.Ed course, they can join the new 4-year B.Ed course and join as a teacher immediately.
The National Teachers’ Education Council has given approval for 17 B.Ed colleges to commence this 4-year B.Ed course in Tamil Nadu.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa has ordered that the new 4-year B.Ed course to start from this academic year 2016-17. The syllabus for the course is already prepared. The Chief Minister checked and reviewed the same and gave a few suggestions and improvements.
The official announcement regarding the colleges where this 4-year B.Ed course will be available is expected to be released shortly.
