India records the largest tea exports exceeding the performance in the last 35 years

India has exported 230 million tons of tea for the best performance in the last 35 years.
Countries like Russia, Iran, Germany, Pakistan, Bangladesh, United Arab Emirates and Poland import large quantities of tea.
In an unprecedented performance, India has produced 1233.14 Million Tons of tea in the financial year 2015-16.
The Tea Board has granted permission for the tea producers who have been registered under the regulations to sell 50 percent of their produce on an auction basis.
On the basis of the production, the tea exports have increased by 17.51 percent as compared to the last year.
After a long gap of 35 years, India has exported 232.92 millions of tea again.
Earlier, during the year 1980-81, India exported 231.74 million tons of tea. During the year 1976-77, it exported 242.42 million tons of tea. During the year 1956-57, it exported 233.09 million tons of tea.
This unprecedented record export of tea by India has paved the way of sales of tea worth Rs. 4493.10 Crores.
