The State government of Tamil Nadu has ordered closure of 500 TASMAC shops.
During the election campaign, the Chief Minister Jayalalithaa had promised that once elected back to power, prohibition will be implemented gradually in the state.Following this, as soon as assuming the office as Chief Minister on the first day, she signed in the order to close 500 TASMAC shops
In the latest development, TASMAC Managing Director, R Kirloshkumar has issued orders to close 500 TASMAC shops throughout Tamil Nadu
500 TASMAC shops are being closed from 19th June as per the recommendations of the District Collectors and TASMAC senior managers as per the government order.
As per the order, 58 TASMAC shops in Chennai region, 60 shops in Kovai region, 201 shops in Madurai zone, 133 shops in Trichy zone, and 48 shops in Salem zone, making up a total of 500 TASMAC shops, are being closed.
The stocks in these shops will be taken back to the godowns/depots.The district collectors have to check and confirm the closure of the shops.
The employees who were employed in these shops will be given alternative jobs.
