There are 14 government agricultural college and 19 private affiliated colleges under the jurisdiction of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU). There are 2,600 seats in 13 programmes including the most sought after B.Sc. Agriculture.
In order to fill up the seats for the academic year 2016-17, applications were received from candidates from 12th May till 11th of this month. Applications from 36316 candidates were accepted.
Tamil Nadu Agricultural University on Monday released the rank holders’ list for admission to undergraduate courses for 2016. The university had taken into account applicants’ marks in Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology, divided those by four to arrive at the aggregate.
S. Dheeneshwar in Namakkal district topped the list with the aggregate 199.75. Two other students with the same aggregate R. Datchinamoorthy of Tiruchi and R. Manojkumar of Ramanathapuram were ranked second and third respectively.
The university would call the applicants for counselling starting June 27. On the first two days, it would hold the session for those who had applied under the differently abled, children of ex-servicemen, sports and other quotas. It would throw open the counselling for applicants under the general category on July 4 and end it on July 10. It would hold the second phase of counselling on July 25 and complete the process by August 31.
