The statue of St. Thiruvalluvar which started the journey from Kanyakumari on 18th June, resumed its journey from Chennai to the Ganges. Tamil Nadu State Governor Rosaiah flagged off the journey.
The 12’ high statue of Thiruvalluvar is to be installed in Hardwar, Uttarakhand.
The initiative and the activities are by Uttarakhand BJP MP Tarun Vijay.
MP Tarun Vijay is taking a model statue on a journey from Kanyakumari to the Ganges. The journey started on 18th June from Kanyakumari. It reached Chennai yesterday. Governor Rosaiah flagged off the journey from Chennai to the Ganges.
The central Minister Pon Radhakrishnan, parliamentary committee leader Sudarsana Nachiyappan, member MPs P P Choudhry, Bharath Singh, Rajini Patil, Majid Mam, A Sampath, Udayakumar, Varaprasad Rao, V V Nayak, Bhagwat Mann, and Tamil Nadu Ministers Kadambur Raju and Sevur S Ramachandran, Ex-governor of West Bengal Gopalakrishna Gandhi, Senior Congress Leader Kumari Ananthan, Tamil Nadu BJP President Tamizhisai Soundararajan, MDMK General Secretary Vaiko, VCP President Thol. Thirumavalavan, RSS Senior Administrator Suryanarayan Raji, Chennai Ramakrishna Mutt ManagerVibudanandaji, Lyricist Vairamuthu, and Auditor Gurumurthy participated.
While addressing the gathering, Governor Rosaiah spoke that Thirukkural is a treasure. It is common for the whole world and will last forever. The depiction of human emotions and approach in Thirukkural surpasses any other literary work in any language.
It offers true wisdom and guides to a proper lifestyle. It is a sparkling diamond in the crown of Tamil literature.
The greatness of Thiruvalluvar and his work Thirukkural must be spread across every part of the world.
In his speech, BJP MP Tarun Vijay informed that it is one of the happiest moment of his life. The people of Tamil Nadu consider him as their brother. He would prefer to be called as Tarun ‘Tamil’ Vijay. Thiruvalluvar does not belong to Tamil Nadu alone. He belongs to the whole of India and the world.
Indian History will not complete just by mentioning about Veera Sivaji and other North India Kings. It has to include the three great ruling dynasties of the South India, the Chera, th Chozhas, and the Pandiyas. Thiruvalluvar has integrated the whole country of India.He would take initiative for establishing the analytical appreciation of Thiruvalluvar in the Central Universities.
Central Minister Pon Radhakrishnan, in his address, informed tat whatever initiatives are taken by MP Tarun Vijay is beyond the issue of religion. There is no politics involved in this. If there was any politics, the other party representatives would not have attended this occasion. He would like to see the day when the birthday of Thiruavalluvar is celebrated all over the world as the ‘General Scripture Day’ (‘Podhumarai Naal’).
