Murder of Chennai Techie, a software engineer at the Nungambakkam Railway Station which has shocked the entire city is now transferred to the city police.
The case will now be probed by a special team. Mr K.P.S. Devaraj, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Nungambakkam will head the team now.
Awestruck by the Chennai Commissioner T.K. Rajendran’s statement given to an English daily that their police station doesn’t fall under this jurisdiction and that he had extended aid to the railway police in investigating this case, a Division Bench in the Madras High Court has sought for clarification and summoned the public prosecutor.
A bench comprising Justices S.Nagamuthu and V. Bharadhidasan had requested for clarification where there were faults in having enough coordination between the railway police and city police in working on the case.
The judges realized that there are a number of social responsibilities for the court to handle and that it is not just confined by the cases it handles, and pointed out an acid attack incident that took place in Puducherry. The court is not sure whether the Supreme Court guidelines are being followed or not.
