Rain showers to continue for two more days

The air circulation in upper atmosphere has turned into low pressure zone. This has caused rain everywhere. The air circulation near the central region of Bay of Bengal has got intensified and caused rainfall in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, and other coastal regions. Heat convection caused by this has caused severe rain showers in Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry.
 
There were incessant rainfall in Chennai and its suburban areas including Anna Nagar, Arumbakkam, Mogappair, Ambattur, Aavadi, Tambaram, Chrompet, Pallavaram, Meenambakkam, Alandur, Guindy, Adyar, Velachery, Nungambakkam, Veppery, Vyasarpadi, Kodungayur, Madhavaram, Manali, Ennore, Thiruvotriyur, Parys, Central, Egmore, etc. Due to continuous rain showers, there was traffic jam in most places. In the early hours, there were water stagnation everywhere.
 
Rainfall also continued today. Around 8.30 am today, 15mm rainfall was measured in Nungambakkam and 29.6mm rainfall in airport. Below are details of rainfall recorded at Thiruvallur district where there are a number of lakes

·         Tiruthani – 13

·         R.K. Pettai – 9

 
A total of 344.2 mm was recorded in the district. Meteorological department officials said that the rainfall will continue in Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry for two more days due to heat convection.
