It has been raining rather heavily in the Chennai Metro City and its suburbs since yesterday (Tuesday, 28th June) evening. There have been very heavy rains in a few places in the city. As there have been incessant rains over the last few hours, flight services have been affected.
The runways in the airport were flooded with water. This affected the departure of flights on scheduled time.
In the same way, there were problems in the flights landing at Chennai airport. They could not land smoothly because of the flooded runways and the rain.
Around 30 flight services were affected in both arrival and departure schedules.
Because of the recent heavy rains, the routine day-to-day activities of the city public were affected.

As there a cyclonic effect formed with air circulation in the upper layers of the atmosphere over the Bay of Bengal, there are bright prospects of heavy rains in Nilgiris and Coimbatore.
It may rain in a few places in the next 24 hours in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
The Chennai Metro city will remain cloudy. There may be light drizzles in a few places in the city.
Meanwhile, there may be another cyclonic air format in the upper layers over the Central Bay of Bengal near coastal Andhra.
