Heavy rains pound Chennai

There were heavy rains accompanied by winds in Chennai and its suburbs.
There are rains in southern districts of Tamil Nadu due to south west monsoon. At the same time, there were heavy rains in Chennai during the last week of June.
At a time, when there was scorching heat for the last 2 days, the heavy rains brought great relief to Chennaites. There is heavy rain accompanied with winds in Egmore, Purasawalkam, Central, Chintadripet and Anna Salai.
There was heavy downpour in T Nagar, Teynampet, Nandanam and Ashok Nagar. There was thundershower at Mylapore, Alwarpet and Gopalapuram.
Many two-wheeler riders took refuge under flyovers and foot-over-bridges which added to the woes of other motorists as their parked scooters and motorcycles blocked a sizeable portion of the road.
