Speaking about this, a senior Railway Police Force, or RPF, officer said, Chennai Central`s security plan was beefed up after the 2014 blasts. It is a comprehensive three-tier system that involves plugging of entry-exit points and patrolling on platforms. That has helped reduce the crimes. We have conducted inspections at Egmore and we have decided on the entry points to the station. Currently, Egmore station has eight entry points, of which, four will be closed. To improve security measures, there will be improved security checkpoints, access control exercises will be undertaken and a boundary wall is being built. Streamlining of traffic, and UVSS, or under - vehicle surveillance scanners, have already been deployed on Egmore premises. Within the next two months, more measures to strengthen the security system at Egmore will be undertaken.
