Meteorological Centre: Thermal convection formed will cause rain with thunder today

Due to the southwest monsoon rainy season, it has been raining off and on in the Western Ghats hill range areas and the Southern Tamil Nadu districts.
Due to thermal convection, it has been raining in the northern Tamil Nadu districts like Chennai, Kanchipuram, Thiruvallur, Villupuram, Vellore, and Thiruvannamalai.
Meteorological centre has informed that this will continue till tonight.Because of the thermal convection, there may be rains with thunder in a few places in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
Chennai city and suburban areas will be somewhat cloudy. It may rain in a few places during the night.
