IAS Officer Rakesh Kumar Chaturvedi has been appointed as the Chairman of CBSE (Central Board for Secondary Education).
This post had been vacant for the one-and-a-half years.
The Minister for Human Welfare Ms. Smriti Irani had recommended Sarvendra Vikram Bahadur Singh.
However, this was rejected by the Prime Minister Modi. Now, it has been announced that Mr. Chaturvedi has been appointed as the new Chairman of the CBSE.
It is to be noted that this appointment is announced within only a few days after Smriti Irani’s portfolio was changed.
Chaturvedi is from Madhya Pradesh. It is expected that he will serve as CBSE Chairman till 2020.
