A plan to involve the school students in traffic control, especially on the roads where schools are located every day before the start and end of the school had been announced. Now, this is being brought into effect.
In order to enhance this plan, a special Road Safety Patrol Squad has been set up including the school students (boys and girls). These students will be trained on traffic rules and regulations before starting duty.
The inauguration of the Road Safety Patrol Squad was conducted in Vepery, Chennai. Chennai Police Commissioner T K Rajendran participated and inaugurated the squad. During his address to the gathering, he insisted that the students should strictly observe the traffic rules and regulations.
Chennai Traffic Additional Commissioner Abhay Kumar Singh, Joint Commissioner Ganesamurthy, Deputy Commissioner Durai, Head of the Traffic Wardens Federation Harish L Mehta and 4000 students (boys and girls) participated.
