BMW fans, here is a good news to all of you. The automotive giant is likely to unveil its 7th generation of 5 series. This is likely to happen at the Detroit Motor Show early next year. The 5 series was set for release this year, but as there were a few modifications, it is postponed.
These next generation cars will be lesser in weight and larger in size as compare to their predecessors. This lighter weight models are achieved with the use of Cluster Architecture (CLAR) platform which is a Rear Wheel Drive architecture model. The material used in the body is is carbon fiber and carbon core.
BMW G30, a saloon’ BMW G32, a hatchback GT; BMW G31, an estate are included in the 5 series. There is also a plug-in hybrid variant of BMW.
These cars will have 4, 6 and 8 cylinder petrol or diesel engines that carry displacements of the range 2.0 to 4.4 litre. This new 5 series will have hands-off operation for a particular speed, completely autonomous braking, anti-collision system and a number of other features.
There will also be gesture control which is optional. A three dimensional sensor will detect the five hand movements. Voice recognition system will also be made available in it which will make it on the whole highly user friendly, comfortable and safe.
