This marathon will start on 25th of August and continue for five days. Ironing has so far conducted world record by conducing 100-hour marathon. Now, Mr Daniel Surya from Chennai is set to break his record with his 101-hour marathon run.
This marathon will take place in a grand manner by A1 and A2 districts of Lions Club. A press meet took place for the same. During the meet, the district governor of Lions Club, P.S.V. Kumar, Gunaraja, President of Lions District S. Thyagaraja, Murali, M.P. Sivaramakrishnan, and Mr. Daniel Surya, the Guinness record aspirant were interviewed.
Speaking about the marathon, Mr Daniel Surya said that the world record by Ironing Marathon is so far for 100 hours. Now, this new move to run a 101-hour marathon is to break this record and create awareness about eye donation.
In India, there are over 15 million blind people out of which 4.5 million of them are waiting for eye donation. Out of this population, 60 percent are children. During this 5-day marathon, I intend to get promise from over 1 crore individuals for eye donation. The A1 and A2 districts of Lions Club are fully supportive for my initiative.
In his note about this, Gunaraja of Lions Club said a youngster from Chennai is gearing up to break the world record made by a foreigner. He mainly focusses on creating awareness about eye donation. Understanding his pure intention, Spencer Plaza has given space. Philips will provide all the necessities for the marathon. This will take place for 101 hours between 25th and 30th of this month. It will take place under the supervision of officials from Guinness world record. The entire marathon will be video recorded. Special cultural programs promoting eye donation will also take place during the marathon.
The necessary organization works for the marathon are being carried out by Governor of Lions Club, Kumar, Gunaraja, and President Thyagaraja, Sivaramakrishnan, Murali, etc.
