The Director of the Chennai Meteorological Centre, Mr, S. Balachandran, informed that due to the climate change formed in the region over the central-west Bay of Bengal, there may be rains in Tamil Nadu.

A brief of information shared by S. Balachandran with the press reporters:

There is a cyclonic format developing in the upper layers in the atmosphere over the central-west Bay of Bengal. This cyclonic format may develop into a depression zone in 24 hours (today, Sunday, 11th September).  Due to this, there may be light to medium rains in a few places in North Tamil Nadu and rains in 1 or 2 places in South Tamil Nadu.

This depression may not lead to heavy rains in Tamil Nadu. The heavy rains may be in Andhra and its neighbourhood.

The Chennai Metro city will be lightly cloudy. There are prospects of rains in a few places in the city.
