Southern Railway releases new time table- Many trains speeded up

Southern Railway general manager Vashishta Johri on Friday released the new Southern Railway for the year 2016-17.
Seventy trains operated by Southern Railway will run faster from October 1. Eighteen trains running through Tamil Nadu and Kerala, but operated by other zones, have also been speeded up. On the whole 88 trains have speeded up. The maximum decrease will be between 20 minutes and 90 minutes.
Southern Railway general manager Vashishta Johri while speaking said: the new time table will come into effect from 1st October (today). This time table will be into force upto 30th September 2017. The Chennai Egmore – Rameswaram, Egmore – Jodhpur, Chennai Central – Hubbali and Bengaluru – New Tinsukia trains were upgraded as superfast express trains. Further, the Kakinada - Chennai Egmore Circar and Kacheguda - Egmore Express trains have been extended to Chengalpattu. Other new trains to be operated by the Southern Railway include Ernakulam – Howrah Antyodaya weekly express, Coimbatore – KSR Bengaluru Uday double decker superfast express, Ernakulam – Hatia superfast express, Krishnarajapuram – Bhubaneswar superfast Humsafar weekly express, Yeswantpur – Howrah Humsafar superfast weekly express and Bengaluru Cantonment – Kamakhya Humsafar superfast weekly express trains.
New weekly Humsafar trains from Chennai to Ahmedabad and Tiruchirapalli to Sriganganagar with third AC compartments and Chennai to Santragachi superfast weekly Antyodaya Express are among highlights of the new timetable.
The new timetable costs Rs. 35 and copies are available at ticket counters and book stalls at major stations from today.
