Persons who regularly go to gyms and those interested in strengthening their bodies recommend that protein powder has to be taken daily. Is it ok?
In the present lifestyle, people tend to believe that it is advisable to take items like protein powder or protein shake rather than considering the protein available in our regular organic food items. However, this is wrong.
Our body requires an average 50 grams of protein daily. This can easily be taken from our regular food. For the vegetarians, the protein sources are milk, curd, pulses, mushroom, oil-seeds, dry fruit nuts, etc. For non-vegetarians, it can be from fish, egg, and meat.
However, when we take protein powder or shake, only the protein contained in it will reach the body – but other requisite nutrients and minerals will not. Also, our digestion system will take a longer time to digest the protein from this inorganic food. So, we cannot take other food after taking this.
If we tend to take more of this protein shake or powder under the impression that it is just a health item, it may affect the kidneys with stone formation. Also, fat content in blood will increase leading to heart-related problems. Also, livers may be harmed.
The people who go to the gym regularly can take the white of 2 eggs, gravy made of pulses, half-a-litre milk, 200 grams sprout, 300 gm of chicken meat.
