The National Institute of Mental Health and the department of neurology have together conducted a research. The results of the study states that nearly 15 crore Indians accounting to 13.7 percent of the total population in India have got some sort of psychiatric problems and they get disrespected in the society.
Out of this population, 10.6 percent of them badly need immediate treatment. As there are raising troubles in the country, the National Institute of Mental Health is made responsible of submitting reports in the year 2014. The results of their study are now announced.
The research involved studying 34,802 individuals in 12 states across India. Various factors including liquor, smoking, mental stress, fear and lot more were taken under consideration. According to the study results, there are more cases of mental stress in city as compared to villages or remote areas.
People suffer out of mental sickness due to economic constraints, fast paced life, and many other reasons. Out of all these, those who suffer due to economic constraints are the most. Nearly 80 percent of such individuals receive no sort of treatment or medicine for their mental illness for over one year.
