The Chennai Meteorological Centre has informed that the Northeast Monsoon season rainfall will be normal.

Based on this information, it can be expected that there is no cause to alarm/panic, especially recalling the last year’s unprecedented downpour and floods.

The Director of the Chennai Meteorological Centre Mr. S. Balachandran had a detailed session with the press reporters on this issue.

Normally, the expected rainfall during the Northeast monsoon rain season is 44 cm. 39 cm to 44 cm of rainfall is expected during this year’s northeast monsoon season.

The weather conditions are conducive to the commencement of the northeast monsoon season.

It may be recalled that during last December, there was unprecedented rainfall leading to heavy floods in Chennai, Thiruvallur, Cuddalore, and Kanchipuram districts.

In this background, it is some sort of relief to note the predictions about this year’s northeast monsoon rainy season from the Chennai Meteorological Centre.
