Reliance Jio will be soon introducing a new smartphone with unlimited video and voice calling at a price of Rs.1000.
Reliance Jio owned by industrialist Mukesh Ambani introduced the 4G SIM during the month of September. People started thronging to get the SIM card since it was announced that there will be 3 months free 4G internet and voice calling. Ina short span of time, this firm got 25 million customers.
At this juncture, Reliance Jio may soon launch a series of feature phones with 4G VoLTE support. The phones could be priced as low as Rs 1,000. The devices will function just like smartphones and will include the use of data to access the Internet and make calls - the only thing missing will be the touchscreen.
The 4G telco is working with domestic handset maker Lava International and Chinese original equipment makers to manufacture these feature phones. Jio is said to be subsidizing part of the selling price to make the 4G feature phones available at about Rs 1,000.
