Heavy rain continues to Tamilnadu;schools shut in 11 districts

Schools and colleges in 11 districts are shut after heavy rain slammed coastal and delta districts in Tamil Nadu. Rain continues in almost all the districts in coastal TN after the low pressure has further moved towards west.
The 11 districts include Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kanchipuram, Thanjavur, Sivagangai, Ramanathapuram, Villupuram, Cuddolore, Nagai, Tiruvarur and Pudukkottai
Chennai city, which received nearly 50 mm of rain during the last 24 hours ending at 0830 hrs this morning, would have generally cloudy skies, with a few spells of rain or thundershowers.
Many roads were waterlogged and vehicles moved at a snail’s pace. The problem was compounded as the roads were heavily damaged due to persistent rains. Vehicles got piled up and it took more than an hour to cross the flooded two km stretch from Vadapalani to Koyambedu.
