Nokia announced that it will return to the smartphone industry in 2017. The announcement was made at Capital Markets Day 2016.

While Nokia will not be manufacturing the smartphones itself, they will be acting as the owner of the brand. Furthermore, Nokia plans on ditching Microsoft’s Windows OS. It will instead be making use of Google’s Android OS. According to reports, HMD will be pairing Nokia’s patents and brand with Foxconn’s R&D and manufacturing. The same reports even speculate that Nokia’s first handset in 2017 may be the D1C.

The device will come with 3GB RAM, 32GB ROM and will be running on the latest Android 7.0 Nougat. The phone may sport a 1920 x 1080 pixel screen resolution with a 13MP rear camera and 8MP front camera.
