Aadhar card compulsory for IIT aspirants

Aadhar card is made compulsory to write IIT entrance examinations. This will come into force from next academic year.
 
In our country there are 22 IITs including Chennai, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Kanpur and Kharagpur. In order to admit B.E and B.Tech candidates in IIT, JEE examinations is conducted, Final year students get lucrative jobs through campus selections. Because of this, there is tough competition amongst the youngsters to join the IIT courses.  There are 10000 seats in these IIT colleges. Nearly 7 lakhs candidates write the JEE examinations. Every year this number is increasing. 
 
In JEE entrance examination there are mains and advanced examinations. Those who have passed mains will be permitted to write the advanced examination. To join NIT and IIT courses JEE mains is sufficient but candidates who prefer to join IIT should also qualify in advanced examinations.
 
Based on the advanced examinations marks, the candidates are admitted in the IIT course. Till now JEE Main Rank List is prepared with composite scores of JEE Main and Normalized Marks of Class XII in the ratio of 60:40. The composite scores are arranged in merit and the rank is awarded on this basis only.
 
From now on there shall be no weightage for Class 12 marks in calculating ranks in JEE Mains exams, but the students must secure a minimum of 75 per cent or be in a top 20 percentile in their 12th standard examinations to take up admissions through JEE. 
 
According to the recent guidelines of the CBSE, at the time of filling the application form candidates will have to enter their Aadhaar number, name, date of birth & gender which will be validated with the UIDAI’s data.  In case, these particulars do not match, the candidates will not be able to fill the application form for JEE (Main)-2017. Therefore, the candidates have to ensure that their Aadhaar card details match the data on school records.
