Considering India, robots are more of a research material at technology institutes, or used at technology festival for display or for industrial set up as one among those in the assembly line. On the contrary, there is every day usage of robots as well. Unlike countries in south East Asia where households largely use robots as pets or for virtual assistance or there are in fact robots as hotel receptionists, there is nothing of this kind in India.

This condition will soon turn obsolete with the entry of Lakshmi. The first ever banking robot in India is Lakshmi. This has entered the T. Nagar branch of City Union Bank during the starting of this month.

Lakshmi has artificial intelligence for helping the bank customers. This will help them in getting answers to most common questions that customers raise. The robot has got answers to over 120 most common questions. These are some of the most common questions customers ask the bank authorities.
