Weather update - Depression zone may transform to storm

The Chennai Meteorological Centre has warned that the recent low depression zone formed over the Southeast of the Bay of Bengal has deeply intensified and there are possibilities that it may develop into a storm. So, there may be a storm likely in the next 12 hours.
The depression zone formed over the Southeast of the Bay of Bengal has been drifting at the speed of 15 km per hour towards west/Northwest. This has intensified into a very low depression zone.
This is located at 830 km southeast of Chennai and 780 km in the south/southeast of Puducherry, and 490 km in the south/southeast of Trincomalee.
It is reckoned that this depression may move towards West/Northwest. It is also reckoned that it may transform into a storm in the next 12 hours.
The Chennai Meteorological Centre has informed that it will cross Tamil Nadu coast in the Chennai-Vedaranyam area near Cuddalore on 2nd December. The onset of the storm will be indicated by strong blowing winds. In the current status as a depressed zone, the ground winds may blow at the speed of 50 to 60 km per hour.This may increase gradually and the speed may become 75 to 85 km per hour on 1st December.
On 2nd December, the winds may blow at a speed of 60 to 70 km per hour. It has also been warned that the speed of the waves in the coastal areas of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry may be high.
Update
The Northeast Monsoon rainy season started on 30th October. With relatively less amount of rains almost for a month, the recent depression formed has intensified and looks to transform into a storm.
The latest warning from the Chennai Meteorological Centre is that this may develop into a storm.
The depression zone formed in the Southeast Bay of Bengal has been moving at a speed of 15 km per hour towards West/Northwest since the last 6 hours. This has intensified. This is located at 830 km southeast of Chennai and 780 km in the south/southeast of Puducherry, and 490 km in the south/southeast of Trincomalee.
Heavy Rains
There may be heavy rains with gradually increasing intensity in the coastal districts of Tamil Nadu including Chennai. It may rain heavily in the interior districts also in Tamil Nadu on 1st and 2nd December.
The director of the Chennai Meteorological Centre Mr. S, Balachandran explained that it may not be possible to estimate the exact mm of rain to fall – currently, it can only be informed that there will be heavy rains.
