Severe cyclonic storm Vardah is likely to make a landfall near Chennai

The very severe cyclonic storm Vardah is likely to make a landfall near Chennai today afternoon.
 
Rescue groups and shelters have been arranged in Chennai, Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur and Villupuram districts. As of 9.30 am. 6 cm rains have been recorded in Nungambakkam.  
 
There will be only one EMU train for every one hour between Chennai Central Suburban to Gummidipoondi.
 
The Chennai Meteorological centre has mentioned that due to cyclonic storm Vardah. districts Chennai, Kancheepuram and  Tiruvallur will receive 20 cms rains.  
 
The landfall will be accompanied by strong winds at the speed of 120 to 130  kmph and heavy to very heavy rainfall,.
 
3500 people have been provided safe shelters in Chennai, Kancheepuram and Tiruvallur districts.   
 
Ever wondered who named the cyclone as Vardah? It is Pakistan. Vardah which means red rose. The very severe cyclonic storm Vardah is now located 150 km east of Chennai.
 
Cyclonic storm Vardah is moving at a speed of 13 kms. It is expected to make the landfall in the afternoon.
