What does it cost to print the new Rs 500, Rs 2000?

In a reply to an RTI query, The Reserve Bank of India has revealed the printing cost of new Rs 500 and Rs 2000 currency notes. The RTI application was filed by Neemuch-based Chandrashekhar Gaud. Bhartiya Reserve Bank Note Mudran Private Limited (BRBNMPL), a subsidiary of RBI, said in its reply that a cost of printing of Rs 500 was Rs 3.09 and Rs 2000 was Rs 3.54.
