Additional page to be inserted in ration cards

The State Food Department has mentioned that it will add additional pages in the ration card which will have validity for six months.
In Tamil Nadu, work is going on a cost of Rs 320 Crores to replace the ration cards with smart cards. Since most of the people have not submitted their Aadhaar details, the progress of the work has been hampered, which has led to the department inserting an additional page.
An official of the State Food Department said: In Tamil Nadu 47 percent families have been linked with Aadhar number. The work regarding the balance linking of Aadhar is going on now. Because of this, the issuance of smart cards will take some time. In view of this, additional sheet for the first 6 months of 2017 will be pasted. Smart cards will be issued in a short span of time.
