A new scheme for enrolling employees in ESI

ESI (Employee’s State Insurance Corporation) has introduced a special scheme SPREE (Scheme for promoting Registration of Employees and Employers-SPREE) for the benefit of providing social security for the employees throughout the country.
This scheme facilitates all those employees who have not been registered so far due to whatever reasons in the period between 20th December and 31st March 2017 in ESI Scheme to avail the benefit of social security.
The companies (employers) who register in the scheme during the above period (20th December 2016 to 31st March 2017) or the date indicated by them will be brought under the ESI Scheme. In a similar way, the new employees who are registered in this period will be considered as under the ESI Scheme from the date of registration.
The new scheme does not cover the actions taken under the ESI Act taken before 20th December 2016.
