A new low depressed zone has formed near Thailand region. Because of this, the Chennai Meteorological Centre has informed that there are prospects of an extended Northeast Monsoon rainy season.
Usually, the Northeast Monsoon rainy season is expected to end by end December. However, with the detection that a new depression zone has formed near the Thailand region, the Chennai Meteorological informs that there is a likelihood of an extended Northeast monsoon rainy season.
One of the officials informed that a depression formed near Sri Lanks has been drifting gradually and presently is over the Kanyakumari region. There are no prospects of rain in the next 24 hours in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. Dry climate will continue. Chennai will remain somewhat cloudy.
There were no rains in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry as on the last 24 hours till Friday Morning 8.30 AM.
Meanwhile, a new depression has formed near the Thailand region. Only if this intensifies, it can be estimated whether there would be rains in Tamil Nadu or not. So, the Chennai Meteorological Centre is closely monitoring the developments. Because of the new depression zone, it is expected that the Northeast Monsoon rainy season, which generally comes to end by end-December, is likely to continue for an additional 2 weeks.
