Mr. N. Chandrasekaran, as nominated earlier b the Tata Group, assumes office as the Head of the Tata Sons Group today (Tuesday, 21st February). Earlier, the former Head Mr. Cyrus Mistry had been removed from the office last year.
After a series of discussions, Mr. N. Chandrasekaran was elected to be the new Head of the Tata Sons Group. On 12th January. Accordingly, Mr. Chandrasekaran assumes office as the Head of the Tata Sons Group today (21st February).
It is a remarkable bit to note that Mr. Chandraskaran, affectionately known as ‘Chandra’ to all near and dear, is the 1st person outside the Parsi Community in the long illustrious period of the company’s last 160 years.
Mr. Chandrasekran expressed that the new position would be an extremely challenging one. He expressed confidence he would be successful in encountering this challenge by adopting an innovative approach.
It is worth recalling that the Tata Group has bought the Corus Company in the United Kingdom years back. However, this venture was not that successful. Subsequently, the Tata Group has already indulged in selling this concern.
With the recent BREXIT, the challenge of the task of disposing of Corus is a huge one for the new leadership. Further, a target has been set to run all the sections of Tata Motors in profit.
In addition, the onus on the important decision on the dream project of Ratan Tata, the Nano car project, which has so far resulted in a loss of over Rs. 1000 Crores, would be the new Head of the Tata Group, Mr. Chandrasekaran.
Mr. Chandrasekaran, who is an accomplished marathon runner, has won several international contests.
In his career, Mr, Chandrasekaran has encountered several challenges and has been immensely successful in handling them. Now, the whole world will be watching him eagerly how he would handle these complex challenging problems prevailing in the Tata Group concerns.
