Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways Pon Radhakrishnan has mentioned that 3,000 medical shops will be opened across the country before March 31st. The prices of the medicines will be cheaper in these government shops.
Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways Pon Radhakrishnan while speaking in a workshop on Pradhan Mantri Bharatiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana held at KVK in Gandhigram said: Under the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Pariyojana, a scheme launched in 2008 but there was no growth in this scheme for the last 10 years. Now once again we are reviving this. Currently the quality of life in the country is determined by economics. The economy which reaches the poor is very low. With the efforts of our Prime Minister, development projects on economics, education, industry, health, agricultural are being implemented. 500 types of generic medicines for diseases including Diabeties and cancer are sold cheaper. Cancer tablets are sold for Rs 447 and the Diabeties tablet sold for Rs 50 is now sold for Rs 5. Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Pariyojana is fully implemented in Assam and Gujarat States. A total of 3,000 Jan Aushadhi Stores (medical shops) will be opened across the country before March 31 to ensure availability of quality generic medicines at affordable prices. Tamil Nadu will have 250 shops by March end.
