The bank employees are set to go on strike today (Tuesday, 28th February) as to press their various demands. Some of their demands include: The senior officials should be made accountable/responsible for all unrecovered debts & The avenues for permanent jobs could not be to outside agencies.
There are 9 unions in the All Bank Employees Unions Federation. It is understood that 2 of the unions - Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh and the National Bank Officers Association - will not participate in this strike.
The other 7 unions are participating in the strike. The State Bank of India, Punjab National Bank, and Bank of Baroda branches have already informed their customers about this break in services.
It is also gathered that exchange of cheque payments will be severely affected in the private sector banks such as ICICI, HDFC, Axis & Kotak Mahindra Bank.
