The nutrition experts have listed the fruits to be given to growing children in order to increase their body resistance to diseases.
We normally buy apple, banana, mango, guava, and pomegranate regularly for the children. Apart from this, we have to add sour fruits like papaya, gooseberry, sweet lime, kamala orange. These fruits contain vitamin C which helps build body resistance to diseases. Vitamin C also helps prevent infectious diseases caused by viral germs and bacteria.
Further, the egg is an important food for growing children. As egg is rich in protein, it will help proper and better growth better of the organs and tissues.
Boiled egg is rich in vitamin D which helps strengthen the bones and teeth.
Also, it is better to ensure giving greens to growing children at least twice in a week. Greens are rich in iron, vitamins and minerals. So, they help prevent anaemic conditions.
Vegetables with deep colours like brinjal and beetroot, yellow and green capsicum, carrot, yellow pumpkin and vegetables like beans, cabbage, and mushrooms are good for the children.
Especially during the winter season, it is better to make soup of these vegetables and give in the mornings and evenings.
For the children who eat non-vegetarian, mutton and bone soup is good. The would prevent entry of harmful bacteria. Children who do not like curd may be given buttermilk.
If dry fruits like almond, raisins, and dates are regularly given, they build the body resistance to diseases. They are rich in proteins, minerals, and vitamins. The children may also be given fish. Fish is rich in protein and also an acid known as Omega. This omega helps prevent any disease and also helps in keeping better eyesight and also better brain growth. So, it is better to give children fish at least once a week.
Grains like ragi, corn, wheat, etc can be used in the form of powder to make porridge. Or else, the powder can be used to make chapattis. These are rich in fibre content and will prevent infectious diseases.
