Starting from Thursday (tomorrow), amendments in visa rules as announced by the UK Home Office in 2016 will come into effect. All the Indians and others from nations outside European Union are likely to get affected.
There are several changes introduced in the tier-2 category visas. Indians and citizens of many other countries outside EU make use of the visa.
According to announcement made in March last year, UK companies that hire non-EU nationals need to shell out extra of 1000 pound of annual Immigration Skills Charge.
For one employee, per year, the price is 1000 pounds and for small or charitable organizations, the reduced rate is 364 pounds, said a UK Home Office sources.
For those who are swapping from student visas to working visas, and for PhD level jobs, the charge will not be applicable. This is a move to aid talented workers and students who contribute towards the British economy’s growth, said the Home office sources.
This change made to the tier-2 visa regime is one of the notable ones. This aims at reducing the immigration numbers from countries outside EU and make visa regulations stringent.
