Free solar energy technology training

The Tamil Nadu energy development agency is organising a free training programme on the technology of solar energy for the candidates who have passed ITI Diploma courses (offered by Industrial Training Institutes).

In the 1st Phase, this free training is conducted in 3 places - Chennai, Coimbatore, and Salem.

An official explained that there is an increasing awareness among the public about solar energy. As a result, solar energy is being used in houses, factories, offices, and hospitals. This has resulted in a growth of the industry and its manpower in the manufacturing of solar energy equipment.

In order to cater to the additional requirement of skilled manpower in the solar energy industry, the Tamil Nadu fuel development agency has devised a new training course on this front.

As a pilot programme, in the 1st Phase, the free training courses are scheduled to be conducted in Chennai, Coimbatore, and Salem.
The training is jointly organised jointly as funded by the Tamil Nadu skill development corporation.

The candidates must be above 18 years of age and must have completed +2 and the ITI course or Diploma. The training course is for 38 days or 300 hours.

For the candidates who attend this free training programme, a daily travelling allowance of Rs. 100 will be given.

The target is set to train 1000 persons every year for a total 5000 persons to be trained over a period of 5 years. In the 1st Phase, training is imparted to 500 students.

The training is scheduled to start in June. At the end of the training, a certificate will be given and assistance for getting a job will be provided.
